Okay, okay. I realize I said I wouldn’t be doing restaurant reviews here. This is more a quick a report on a single meal. I’m not trying to paint a picture of the whole operation, nor am I gonna assign any stars or spoons, or thumbs up or down. This is just what I ate at M5 on a wednesday afternoon late lunch. Face value people, face value.

If you are a member of my family, you need this map.
If you are not a member of my family and this map speaks to you, we need to be hanging out.
Nuff said? And…go.

I can’t even figure out a name for this post.
Though I was born and raised in the suburban hinterlands of New Jersey, my ethnic heritage is Filipino. The Philippines is a place I have visited many times starting from when I was barely one year old to this past summer. I’m always blown away by the people, the culture, the food, everything really. Unfortunately, there is this thing about the Philippines, particularly it’s food, that is incommunicable. People always ask me to explain to them what Filipino food is like. In a lifetime of eating the stuff, I still don’t have a good answer. For example, if I think of my top three favorite Filipino dishes, they have virtually nothing in common.

Omnivore’s Hundred
From the British Blog Very Good Taste:
Here’s a chance for a little interactivity for all the bloggers out there. Below is a list of 100 things that I think every good omnivore should have tried at least once in their life. The list includes fine food, strange food, everyday food and even some pretty bad food – but a good omnivore should really try it all. Don’t worry if you haven’t, mind you; neither have I, though I’ll be sure to work on it. Don’t worry if you don’t recognise everything in the hundred, either; Wikipedia has the answers.
Here’s what I want you to do:
1) Copy this list into your blog or journal, including these instructions.
2) Bold all the items you’ve eaten.
3) Cross out any items that you would never consider eating.
4) Optional extra: Post a comment here at www.verygoodtaste.co.uk linking to your results.
Bellyspeak’s Omnivore’s Hundred:
1. Venison
2. Nettle tea
3. Huevos rancheros
4. Steak tartare
5. Crocodile (alligator yes, but not croc)
6. Black pudding (had this at a quaint country B&B in England, it was awesome)
